Ellis Medicine launches Ellis CareNet Ob/GYN, expanding women’s healthcare across the Capital Region

Acquisition of longtime Bellevue Woman’s Center partner strengthens access, enhances care coordination and reflects Ellis’ ongoing investment in women’s health

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. – Ellis Medicine today announced the acquisition of CareNet Medical Group, one of the Capital Region’s most trusted obstetrics and gynecology practices. Effective immediately, the practice becomes Ellis CareNet Ob/GYN, further strengthening women’s healthcare services and reinforcing Ellis Medicine’s long-term commitment to Bellevue Woman’s Center.

For decades, CareNet physicians have cared for women and families throughout every stage of life and have delivered babies and provided care at Bellevue Woman’s Center. As part of the transition, CareNet physicians and providers will join Ellis’ employed medical group, Ellis Medicine Medical Associates. Patients will continue seeing the same trusted providers while benefiting from even closer coordination between physician offices, Bellevue Woman’s Center and Ellis Medicine. The transition formalizes a longstanding relationship between the organizations and creates an even stronger connection between outpatient women’s healthcare services and hospital-based care.

“CareNet has been a trusted partner of Ellis and Bellevue Woman’s Center for many years,” said Jackie Montgomery, Chief Nursing Officer of Ellis Medicine and former Site Administrator for Bellevue. “Bringing this outstanding group into the Ellis family allows us to build on that successful relationship while making a clear investment in the future of women’s healthcare and Bellevue Woman’s Center. We’re strengthening the connection to Bellevue that has long been a hallmark of the CareNet experience.”

“For more than four decades, our practice has been privileged to care for women and families throughout this community,” said Dr. Hee-Joo Cheon Schingo, one of the four CareNet physicians who will make the transition to Ellis and Bellevue. “We’ve worked closely with Bellevue for many years, and joining Ellis is a natural next step. This transition strengthens our ability to serve our existing patients, while expanding access for new patients in the future and building on a relationship that has already benefited local families for decades.”

Appointments, care plans and provider relationships will remain unchanged. Women who choose Bellevue for Labor & Delivery services will continue receiving their care there. As part of the transition to Ellis CareNet Ob/GYN, outpatient practices will relocate into existing Ellis Medicine facilities in Niskayuna and Clifton Park, enhancing integration with Ellis services while remaining in the community and convenient for patients.

The acquisition is one of several recent investments Ellis Medicine has made in women’s healthcare. In addition to launching Ellis CareNet Ob/GYN, Ellis recently announced plans to open a new midwifery practice at Bellevue, and reopened walk-in blood draw and laboratory services there, further enhancing access and convenience for patients seeking care on the Niskayuna campus.

Meanwhile, Ellis continues to recruit additional women’s health providers, including Dr. Kimberly Thill, who joined the Ellis CareNet practice this month. Dr. Thill joins the CareNet providers:

  • Dr. Hee-Joo Cheon Schingo
  • Dr. Esther Moon
  • Dr. Emily Campito
  • Dr. Beatrice Tsao
  • Physician Assistant Erin Adams, PA-C

These latest developments are designed to strengthen access to obstetrical and gynecological care and ensure Bellevue remains a regional destination for women’s healthcare, maternity services and newborn care.

“CareNet physicians have helped deliver generations of local families at Bellevue,” said Ellis Chief Medical Officer Dr. Thea Dalfino. “This acquisition builds on a partnership that already exists and creates a stronger foundation for women’s healthcare across our region. It reflects our commitment to Bellevue, to our patients and to the future healthcare needs of our community.”
