Lactation

Every pregnancy is different, and the same can be said for the postnatal period and beyond. If you choose to breastfeed your baby, it quickly becomes a staple of your daily routine — and breastfeeding can sometimes come with its own complications.

Bellevue Woman’s Center is committed to helping moms work through breastfeeding challenges with professional inpatient and outpatient lactation consultation and support.

Breastfeeding Impatient

Inpatient Lactation Consultation and Support

At Bellevue Woman’s Center, international board-certified lactation consultants are on staff to guide you through the breastfeeding and lactation process and speak to any questions or concerns that you may have.

Before your child is born, Bellevue’s Lactation Department offers Breastfeeding Preparation Classes two-three times a month that help moms prepare for the breastfeeding process. Learn more about our Breastfeeding Preparation Classes below in the section titled “Breastfeeding Classes.”

During your stay at Bellevue, lactation consultants will visit daily to help with any complications that you are experiencing and speak with you about your experiences and feelings related to your breastfeeding journey. Our lactation consultants are available on holidays and weekends — no matter when you are staying at Bellevue Woman’s Center, our lactation experts will be there to lend a hand. Inpatient lactation services are part of your care in the hospital and are not billed to your insurance, regardless of how much or how little you use them.

After you are discharged, lactation consultants continue to be available to answer your questions and address concerns. Free phone triage is available for as long as you need assistance throughout your breastfeeding journey. Individual outpatient consultations are available through insurance and possible copay.

Outpatient Lactation Consultation and Support

Outpatient Lactation Services are available to new moms, regardless of where they gave birth.

Appointments are different depending on your specific needs. The Lactation Consultants at Bellevue can help you with:
